myworld interview spot - Damian Barr

This afternoon we spoke with Damian Barr, journalist, writer, playwright and salonierre.

myworld: What are you up today?

DB: Reading books for new Guardian/waterstones promotion called fiction uncovered. Then it's cocktails at Le Fumoir with wickedly boozy writers and Christmas party for grand book types at London library. Spent some quality time w my chickens in between and planned a literay salon.

myworld: Anything super hip you’re working on that you wouldn’t mind sharing with myworld?

DB: Well, next year I am contuing to curate and host events on te Hendeicks horseless carriage which takes writers and their stories to festivals like SGP. I am just finished first draft of first few chapters d a new book! And planning to take my literary salon to USA after event success w Bret Easton Ellis on berlin.on anninam going to be reader in residence on radio4!

myworld: If you were designing a hotel bedroom what would be amongst your top 3 prerequisites?

DB: A vast bed for my 6'4" frame. A coat stand sturdy enough for tweed. And shelve and shelves of well-loved books!

myworld: Our design philosophy takes into account the 5 senses – of all of them, which is your favourite and why?

DB: Taste-in the broadest sense. Specifically Unami...that Tongue tingling dark sweet-bitterness. It's the ultimate grown up taste sensation. And in perfect good taste-think a dirty gin martini where the olive is stuffed w dolcelattw cheese.
